Refurbished mid-1900’s Lionel Ship-log Register, Rotor, Sinker, and Governor . These registers are mounted on the taffrail (stern), while a line connected rotor (with Governor attached) is drug through the water. The register records the rotor’s revolutions and converts them into nautical miles. The 4¼” face is signed as follows: “TYPE TL” “TAFFRAIL LOG” “Manufactured by THE LIONEL CORPORATION” “NEW YORK, N.Y.”. The large dial reads form 0 to 100 nautical miles while the small dial reads from one-tenth to one nautical mile. The brass register measures 11” Long x 5” Wide x 6” Deep and has the swivel mount. The attached cast iron Governor is stamped “TL 59” and measures 17” Long x 4” Wide and is connected to the register by a 12” x 3/8" cotton line. The rotor assembly includes a 15” x 6½” rotor, 6” x 1¼” sinker, and 27” of half inch braided cotton line. One rotor fin is stamped as follows: Lionel’s Trademark plus “THE LIONEL CORPORATION” “NEW YORK N.Y.” “TYPE TL”. Both cotton lines have been “whipped” at both ends.
