Eight-day key wind Ship’s Bell Clock with winding key. Based on the design, materials, and quality, it was likely built in the 1970’s. It chimes on the half hour in the “Ship’s Bells” pattern consistent with the four hour watches assigned to crewmembers. The brass case measures 6” wide, 3” deep, has a hinged 4¾” door (with beveled glass window), and weighs 3 pounds. The clock has a 4¼” silvered face with Roman & Arabic numerals and is signed “OBSERVER” “4 JEWELS”. There is a spot on the bottom of the case where it appears a label was removed taking the lacquer with it. Also, one of the three mounting grommets is missing. The clock keeps accurate time and strikes the bells in the correct sequence, but there is no assurance it will after being shipped.
