I am offering a 1950's "ECONOLITE Three Ship Oval Motion Lamp. This lamp measures 6½" in diameter x 5" deep x 11" high (including the 2" deep brass plated base). It has three plastic sleeves (two stationary outer and one spinner) with bright/clear colors and the spinner sleeve self-starts when the lamp is turned on. The outer shell is signed "© 1958 ECONOLITE CORP. HAND PRINTED U.S.A." and the center cylinder is signed "ECONOLITE CORP © 1958 NO 172".The three ships are labeled "OLD IRONSIDES" "WIND JAMMER" "MAYFLOWER". There are a number of scuffs, dents, and repairs to the plastic parts, which do not affect the motion effects of the moving water and rain. Also, there several stress cracks in the lower cardboard support but they are not detached. The outer shell "Mayflower" side is in much better condition than the opposite "Old Ironsides" side. It appears that the cord, plug, and socket/switch are original, but the clear 60 watt bulb is newer. Econolite only produced a few hundred of this HAND PRINTED model, which makes it quite unique and rare. Several collectors have indicated that the ships are traveling in the opposite direction of most ship lamps built during this era. The colors, on the outer shade, have very little fading and even with the repairs indicated above it displays quite well.
