Mid-1900’s 10” high x 10” wide x 8” deep Japanese Binnacle. Based on the design and materials used, it was likely built during the mid-1900’s for use on a small vessel. Included is a 5” magnetic Compass mounted in a solid brass 6” gimbal ring. The compass card is signed "NIPPON KOKAKEM CO INC." "OSAKA JAPAN". The binnacle has a 5’ glass viewing window and 110 volt lighting including a 6‘ power cord with in/line switch. The compass was designed to hold fluid - it is currently dry and points in the right direction.. This 4½ pound nautical artifact is a perfect example of international. maritime history.
